The G7 Environment reaffirms the cooperation to protect the planet

The G7 Environment Ministerial Meeting, held in Bologna on June 11-12, ended with the unanimous adoption of the Communiqué for the protection of the planet. All G7 countries shared their commitment to the 2030 Agenda, sustainable finance, circular economy, resource efficiency, marine litter, environmental fiscal reform, environment policies and employment, and Africa. The G7 Ministers also adopted the “5-year Bologna roadmap” which prioritizes actions that advance resource efficiency.

The final document reflects the constructive dialogue and the positions of the G7 Ministers on the key topics of climate change and the role of the Multilateral Development Banks.

The meeting was attended by the Environment Ministers Gian Luca Galletti for Italy, Barbara Hendricks for Germany, Nicolas Hulot for France, Catherine McKenna for Canada, Thérèse Coffey for the United Kingdom, Koichi Yamamoto for Japan, the director of the EPA Scott Pruitt for the USA, and the EU Environment and Climate Commissioners, Karmenu Vella e Miguel Arias Can͂ete. In addition, the Environment Ministers from Chile, Maldives, Ethiopia e Rwanda also attended the meeting, representing developing and least developed countries.
